Neighbors

This morning while we were eating breakfast, a pair of does walked out of the trees across the street and started munching something good in the empty site. They looked healthy and well fed. In a few minutes they moved on, but meanwhile Ken did get a shot without startling them.

On our walk this morning we checked out more potential sites for our next visit. We'll have a rooftop satellite antenna, so we'll be able to get TV in some sites that wouldn't work with our Qube on the ground. We saw some cardinals, including one male that sat in a tree and sang out with clear whistles and chirps while we watched and listened.

We almost got a new neighbor. A Kodiak fifth wheel pulled in across the street. Nothing happened for a while, and then we saw the guy standing out by the utility post, but not doing anything. After a while, he got back in his truck and pulled away.

This evening on our walk we spotted an unusual combination: a red Miata with a small matching red trailer and a tent pitched next to it. We stopped to talk with the owners.

They were happy to show off their trailer. It was manufactured in Tennessee, and the manufacturer paints the trailer to match your tow vehicle. Of course, in most instances the tow vehicle for these trailers is a motorcycle. This couple was on their way to Big Bend, and they had been from Jacksonville (their home) to Newfoundland last summer. These were clearly retired folks like us, and we admired their grit.

I finally tackled the job of removing and re-doing my Gelish nails. The removal process was no fun! It requires first roughing up the surface, then soaking pads with special remover and wrapping one around each nail, then holding it in place with a foil wrap. After ten minutes, the gel coat has been softened and can be gently scraped off the nails. I sure wouldn't do this if it didn't result in a really hard coating that protects my nails from peeling. At least it did last almost a month (more or less).
