Sam's Town, Las Vegas

We left Victorville for Las Vegas a couple of days earlier than planned so we could visit Lee's sister-in-law, who was visiting Las Vegas for a few days. For the first few nights we parked in front of Jeff's house. Then we moved to Sam's Town RV Park. There was a NASCAR race in town that weekend, and finding a place to stay was not easy.

Escrow closed on Jeff's new house while we were there, so we got to see it before he moved in.

Had dinner with Jeff's motorcycle club. They have a monthly dinner out, and their March dinner happened to fall on one of the days we were in town. Much of the dinner conversation had to do with how fast people had gone on their bikes, and where. Several people mentioned speeds of over a hundred miles an hour.

In between visits with Jeff we got to see Hoover Dam, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Valley of Fire State Park.

Farewell Party

First Stop - Apple Valley, CA

Our first stop in our life on the road was the Apple Valley, California, area. We camped for about ten days in Mojave Narrows Regional Park. We spent part of the time visiting Ken's daughter Rebecca and granddaughter Cathy. Cathy is eleven years old, and growing up much too fast. We enjoyed the Park very much. Our campsite was right next to Horseshoe Lake. Local or migrating fauna included camels, horses, ducks, swans, Canadian geese, and a number of other birds we couldn't identify. Lee and Cathy spent a pleasant hour riding horses from the stable in the park. Read more!
