Carol and Dick took us out to dinner today to a wonderful restaurant, the Villa Montez. The building used to house a restaurant called the "Mansion on the Hill," and you can see from this photo how apropos the name was.
We beat the crowds by going before noon, but we were still surprised to see how many cars were already there. Fortunately, there was no wait for a table. Our table overlooked the rear garden, and the ambiance inside and out was lovely. We all enjoyed our dinners: the food and presentation were great.
Afterwards, Carol drove us along parts of the Azalea Trail. Today was the final day of the event, and most of the azaleas bloomed early this year because of the warm weather, so we didn't see many azaleas. However, the homes and their landscaping were still worth seeing.
We spent the rest of the day just enjoying each other's company. We wanted to watch 60 Minutes tonight, especially since we expected a segment memorializing Mike Wallace, who died today at 93. However, the Masters Tournament pushed the show back by an hour, so we hugged and said goodbye about 7:00 p.m. We're hoping for an early start tomorrow, since we're planning on stopping at the outlet mall in Terrell on the way to Lewisville.
