June Is Busting Out All Over!

Wow, it's June already, nearly halfway through 2014. We have two highlights on our June calendar. First, we'll be spending a week June 11-18 at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Second, we'll be spending June 24-30 in Las Vegas, where Rebecca and Catt will be joining us for some fun.

Right now we are just trying to survive the heat. We got out early (for us) to walk this morning at 8:30 a.m., but it was already sunny and hot, so tomorrow we'll try to get out even earlier. This afternoon we took a dip in the pool to cool off and had a bit of a surprising experience.

Everything was calm, and suddenly things were flying into the pool, starting with a large sun umbrella, and pool toys were blowing out of the pool, and the water was full of leaves and debris. Someone said, "Stay where you are." In a moment, it was all over, and people were cleaning up. Evidently they're used to this sort of thing. I asked what caused it, and someone said it was a dust devil.

Tomorrow the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning. To my way of thinking, we've been experiencing excessive heat since we arrived in the Phoenix area!
