Laundry Day

Not much happening today. We did our laundry. While the loads were in the washer, Ken beat me at two games of pool. I almost won the first one, but then scratched on the 8 ball, darn it!

We spent some time out by the pool reading and relaxing in the hot tub. It was hot and sunny today, but windy. Tomorrow we're expecting a cold front. At least it won't be 10 degrees and snowing, like it was in Portland when I talked with Chris and Annie yesterday.
I got an email sent by a former PPC colleague who is now living in Seoul, South Korea, to a group of PPC folks. William reminded us to be thankful that we don't have bombs falling on our heads. The situation in South Korea is extremely tense after North Korea bombed a South Korean island yesterday. We are hoping that William and his family, as well as all the populations of North and South Korea, will be safe and preserved from a shooting war.

Our friend, Pat, who recently had breast cancer surgery, had an appointment with her oncologist today. She will start chemo soon and then have radiation treatments for a year, just to be sure the cancer won't return. We are hoping that the treatments will be completely successful and that Pat will tolerate them well.

Tonight we played a couple of rounds of Rummikub. Ken won the first, clinching his victory in the three-round match. We started another match, and I won the first round decisively, catching Ken with 23 points.
