Running Around

Today we had some running around to do. We picked our bikes up from the bike shop, where we'd had them tuned up. Ken's bike needed a new chain, and both bikes needed a cable replaced. We still had sticker shock when the bill came to over $200. Still, it will be good to have our bikes in good condition.

We also went to the Hidalgo County Tax Assessor's office again. We went two weeks ago and filled out change of address cards, but because of the mob scene in the office, we were advised to come back after the changes had time to be input into the system. Our vehicle registrations expire the end of this month, so we were anxious to get our stickers. This time, instead of going at 7:45 a.m. to be there when the office opened, we went at 4:45 p.m. to be there just before they closed. This was a much better time, with almost no wait. The address changes hadn't made their way into the system, but that was okay. We were able to make the change of address and register both vehicles in about fifteen minutes. That job's done for another year.

We did some grocery shopping to stock up our empty larders, so we had lots of food to find places for in our fridge and cupboards. By the time we got home, the promised cold front was beginning to arrive. A north wind is blowing in cooler weather, so the low tonight will be around 55 degrees instead of over 70, as it has been recently.

Tonight we watched last Sunday's episode of Call the Midwife, which is always enjoyable.

Today we also spent a lot of time on the phone with our insurance agency and with the insurance company for the truck and fifth wheel. We had some questions about the renewal invoice. Now an underwriter at the agency is working on getting things straightened out. Unfortunately our contact at the agency is on vacation this week, so we had to talk with someone new, but we're sure it will get figured out. Everything comes due in April because we bought the two vehicles at the same time.
