Work and Reward

Today we finally put our newly painted hitch back together and stepped back to admire it. Then we started to work on our bike rack and bikes. First we dismantled the rack and brushed and sanded the rust on the parts. Then we applied rust remover and let it set for a while, then rinsed it off and sanded some more. Finally we painted. Takes lots less time to tell it than to do it!

Then, with a newly painted rack, we set to work cleaning up and lubing our bikes. That's a big job if we don't do it often (and unfortunately for the bikes, we don't), so it took all afternoon. At the end we could bask in the glow of our newly polished and lubed bikes for a few moments at least.

Here's another flicker we saw on our walk--check out the long tail.

Tomorrow we're headed to Tyler to help celebrate Carol's 70th birthday, coming up on April 30, and to visit with the extended Dorey clan who are in town for a reunion. We'll be getting up early for the drive.
