Biking to the State Park

Today we biked down to the state park from Green Gate Grove. The trip to the park is two miles on a wide berm, and the road is not heavily traveled. However, the pavement is pretty bumpy, so it's not the smoothest ride. We stopped at Bentsen Palm Village to return our mail key and drop off some recyclables. While we were there, we talked to Beth who was out with Obi, and she told us that Richard Parker had been fired. He alienated so many guests that the firing was definitely deserved. We biked once around the park and back to GGG.

We got the patio cleaned up a bit. After I blew all the leaves and dirt away with our new little electric leaf blower, it looked much better--until an hour later when I stepped out to find more leaves littering the tiles. This is going to be an ongoing battle. It might help some if we get a leaf rake and rake up some of the leaves collecting in the grass.

Tonight Steve and Jan picked us up for a Darryl dance, which might be their last dance of the season. Their plan has been to leave Sunday for Choke Canyon, but they might be delayed while Bert Ogden gets some parts for their trailer repair. There were seven squares plus one couple at the dance, so it's clear that the height of the season is over and people have been leaving.

Hardy and Judy are back in town, so they'll be joining us for our last blast trip to Mexico tomorrow, where we'll celebrate David's birthday and the end of the season, since many people will be leaving soon.

Ken is making plans to go visit Jeff in Vegas. He'll fly out of Harlingen on Southwest on a senior ticket, the most cost effective choice. It's an hour drive to Harlingen, but it's the closest place that Southwest flies out of.
