Storm

Last night we had an impressive thunderstorm. The flashes of lightening and the crashes of thunder went on for at least two hours, and at one point, it sounded like we might have been getting some hail too. When we looked out this morning, the scene was peaceful, with only puddles as evidence of the storm.

On our walk this morning Ken took a photo of this tree by the lake, a victim of a powerful past storm indeed!

We've been seeing lots of butterflies, including some striking yellow and black ones. Ken found a photo on the web that identified them as Tiger Swallowtails. We've seen lots of Black Swallowtails too, but the Tiger Swallowtails, large and with black markings on a yellow background, are real attention getters.

On our walk tonight we saw the swan family again. The gosling is nearly as big as its mother. The three birds stay in close proximity to each other.

We did some work around the rig today. One thing we do quarterly (or so) is drain the
hot water heater to remove sediment. The drain plug is plastic, and this time Ken had to wrap it several times with Teflon tape to prevent it from leaking. We're going to pick up a spare, just in case.

I did some extra housecleaning too, and we experimented with ways to arrange our new chairs when we travel so that (we hope) they won't move around and damage either themselves or the rest of the rig. Our old recliners had some tendency to slide backwards occasionally, probably from sudden stops (which we try to avoid, of course) and going over bumps. This never caused any damage, and we'd like to keep it that way.
