Trip Planning

We have been working on our plans for visiting our kids. Today things came together for Ken and he made plane and car reservations to visit Rebecca and Cathy in Apple Valley, CA, and Jeff in Las Vegas, NV. He's using frequent flier miles so he can fly into Ontario, CA, rent a car to visit Rebecca and Cathy, and then drive to Vegas to visit Jeff and return the rental car and fly out of Vegas to come home. That will save him a 228 mile trip from Vegas back to Ontario International Airport and probably a night in a hotel. He'll be traveling over Easter weekend, and I'll be visiting Ed and Julie and family, so that will work out well. Now I just have to figure out my trip to visit Chris and Annie.

We're seeing Christmas decorations going up around the park. People are very creative. Who ever said a palm tree can't be a Christmas tree?

We picked up an inexpensive sprinkler yesterday, and today I used it to water the area around our site, which is very brown. We're hoping for more green shortly. While we were out for our walk this morning, we happened to see a few things people have left near the trash and recycling--presumably for other people to pick up. I spotted a really nice elasticized cover that fits perfectly over the container in the pickup bed that holds our gas can and small propane tank. We've been jury rigging tarp pieces to do the job, but they're very unsatisfactory.

While I was in the pickup, I decided to spring the hitch so the handle would be out of our way the next three months. Unfortunately, it failed to close, and we could see that a part that has fallen apart before has done it again. Fortunately, we do have a replacement part, which we actually got in August 2009. We decided to wait until it fell apart again before putting the new part in--and now's the time.
