Down Time

We celebrated Memorial Day by taking some down time. Golden Village Palms advertizes that you can own a park model home here and "enjoy the resort lifestyle you've always desired." Don't know about the park model, but the hot tub, relaxing music, and the tall, artistically placed palm trees around the pool area did seem to fit the "resort lifestyle."

In fact, there are three pools (lap pool, water volleyball pool, and large relaxation pool) and three hot tubs (with increasing temperatures to suit everyone's preferences).

Swimming around the large pool we discovered a mama duck with five hatchlings. Mom kept hopping out, but the ducklings are very young and too small to make it over the rim of the pool. One resident was trying to scoop them out with a skimmer net. She said that other folks had been trying to help them out earlier, but they kept ending up back in the pool. When we left she was talking about going to get her swimsuit on so she could more easily reach the little ones to scoop them out, with the hope that Mom would take them to bed!

Earlier today we did our laundry. Ken called the Garden Grove Elks Lodge to make sure they would have a spot for us tomorrow. They said to come on in--they have several open spots, so we shouldn't have a problem.

We called and talked to Nanci about her upcoming surgery, which is scheduled for Wednesday. She and Tom have their RV all stocked up for the trip to Seattle for the surgery. Tom will stay in the fifth wheel at the Burien Elks Lodge, which is about 20 minutes away from the hospital. We are cheering her on--she's a very brave woman, and we're sure she'll do fine.

Chris called tonight just to say hi. He and Shawn and Annie went to the coast this weekend, to Neskowin, where Shawn's mother and stepfather live. Several friends went along, and it sounds like they had a great time.

I finally got around to re-doing my Gelish nails. When I got out the containers, two of them had leaked/evaporated. One was the remover. I used acetone nail polish remover and just left it on longer. That more or less worked. There was just a little of the nail cleanse left. I am feeling a bit encouraged that at least some of my nails are doing better.
