Birthday Dinner

May is both Rebecca and Ken's birthday month. We celebrated both birthdays today by going to the Outback Steakhouse for dinner. Cathy had some reservations about the Outback, but her bacon and cheddar burger and fries made a fan out of her. We all enjoyed our dinners, and then we shared the yummy Chocolate Thunder from Down Under.

We were interested to note that all restaurant menus in California display calorie counts by each item. This desert has 1,554 calories, but the per serving calorie count is listed as 389. Our server told us that he can eat a whole one himself.

We did some shopping before dinner. We found some of the towels we had been looking for at Bed, Bath & Beyond. After dinner all of us went to the mall. Cathy found a top she really liked and some sandals at the Wet Seal. She also found a Green Bay Packers ball cap for her boyfriend. At Sears, I found a Hamilton Beach 4 quart slow cooker. I've been looking for one the right size, and this one was even on sale. Now I just have to find some good slow cooker recipes and use it a lot to justify the space it will take up.

We walked tonight over to the community on the other side of the highway. Some really fabulous homes surround a large lake. I was surprised to see speed boats on the lake. Signs at each entrance to the neighborhood warn that the facilities are for use of members of the HOA.

We watched Toy Story 3 tonight. Actually we watched only an hour and 22 minutes, because the final 23 minutes failed to record. We're having it recorded again--we're on tenterhooks to find out what happens after the claw reaches down into the incinerator and picks up the toys!
