We biked again today. When we started out, our goal was to visit Cooper Creek Reservoir again, but this time to go to the east side. The woman at the Chamber of Commerce had suggested that we go east on Sutherlin’s main street and then south on Plat I (yes, that’s the name of a street). We did that, but Plat I didn’t seem to go to Cooper’s Creek. We checked my GPS and the Google map on Ken’s phone. They both seemed to indicate that we should take a road that hardly looked like a road to us—an unpaved BLM road. That route ended in a locked gate marked “no trespassing.”
Undaunted, we turned around and decided to spend some time at the smaller Plat I Reservoir instead of trying to find a way to Cooper Creek Reservoir from the east. The bonus from this change of plans is that we got to see the pilots and their equipment gathering for the 29th annual Umpqua Valley Modelers Float Fly (which was scheduled for the upcoming weekend.
On the way home we stopped at a house advertizing eggs for sale. We picked up the eggs from a cooler outside the front door and left the money in a plastic container--all on the honor system). The home had lovely flowers, and I was especially struck by these columbines.
We leave tomorrow for Portland.
