Fire

We started our Sunday morning as usual, at Angel's Restaurant having breakfast with friends. Steve and Jan were gracious enough to agree to meet at 9:00 a.m.--but they couldn't resist a comment about late sleepers....  They've been regaling Hardy and Judy and us with tales of their workamping adventures at the Campbellsville, Kentucky, Amazon.com warehouse.

After breakfast we went to Best Buy to try out eBook readers. After an hour checking out the Sony eReader, Kindle 3, and Nook and Nook Color, we came away as undecided as when we started. They all have pluses and minuses.

As we neared home, we saw a plume of black smoke in the sky. That's not unusual around here. We attributed it to a burning cane field. When we got to Bentsen Palm, we saw fire engines and police cars surrounding a burning Class C in the World Birding Center parking lot, adjacent to the RV resort.
We heard that the unit was a 2011 model, only four months old. The owners had just arrived from British Columbia. They turned on their refrigerator and started to walk into the state park, when suddenly they heard their RV burst into flames. It took the fire fighters a long time to quell the flames. Apparently the RV was engulfed, and we doubted that anything was salvageable.

It's rather scary to consider the possibility of an RV fire.
