Wyoming to Colorado

We traveled again today, from Wheatland, WY, to Westminster, CO. It was a dramatic transformation of scenery. We've been in the mountains and the prairies--and now we're in the big city. Westminster is a suburb of Denver. The good part is that we'll get to do some shopping we need to do. The downside is that it's congested and noisy, like most big cities.

We are staying at the Westminster Elks Lodge. We are fortunate to be Elks, because contrary to our expectations, there are few options for RVing in the Denver area. This is one of the larger RV parks we've found at Elks lodges, and it has accommodations ranging from electric only on "the wall" to full hookup 50 amp sites and everything in between. We opted for a full hookup 50 amps, because that way we can run our air conditioner without fear of tripping circuit breakers when we run the microwave.

Everyone here has been very friendly. The RV camp host is a woman named Carol. She spends most of her time, evidently, walking around the park and talking with people, so she knows everything that is going on. She seems intent on getting us to go eat a meal at the lodge. Nothing on the menu sounded really appealing to us, so we ate at home.

We did our laundry this afternoon. While the clothes were in the washers, I drove to a nearby Goodwill donation site and got rid of some of our excess stuff. Then I stopped at the Dollar Tree to get a new drink bottle insulating glove. While I was in the store, a spectacular wind and rain and lightening store came up suddenly, so of course I got wet again, and my umbrella almost tore apart (I had sewn it back together after its last trial). Fortunately by the time the laundry was done, the rain had let up. Soon afterward, the sun came out and the rest of the day was beautiful.

We walked around the park this evening. Ken counted fifth wheels, and I counted motorhomes. Guess who counted more? It was 25 motorhomes to 6 fifth wheels (plus a few others, class C's and a class B). We feel outnumbered.
