Thunderstorms

Today we found out just what a really good Denver thunderstorm looks like, sounds like, and feels like. It was an impressive show of power, with frighteningly loud cracks of thunder that would make you think you'd almost been hit. We unplugged from shore power and crossed our fingers.

We did make some progress on our electrical problem today. We got more advice from the Magnum tech. He suggested that we turned the charge rate down to 50% and the Vac to 60 v, and everything worked. We are now thinking that because of the altitude, our generator isn't putting out enough power. The tech also suggested that we might want to equalize the batteries, which would reduce sulfation that might be making them harder to charge.

Tomorrow we'll head south towards Gardner, CO, where Hardy and Judy are at their friend, Doc Hudler's cabin. We'll probably stay in Walsenburg.

The progress on getting our new laptops up to speed is slow. We bought some new DVDs and this time the recovery disc creation went fine. We are running into compatibility issues. Some of our software has to be run in compatibility mode, and some doesn't look like it's going to work at all--meaning we'll have to buy newer versions. We'll see.
