Happy Unbirthday to Us!

Any excuse for a party at Jean's. Since the gang is together for only a few months each year, many of us have birthdays that we don't have a chance to celebrate with our friends in the Valley. Today isn't anyone's birthday, so we all had an "unbirthday" today.

We often go to Mexico to celebrate, so Jean suggested a Mexican theme for the food. Everyone brought something, and as usual we had way too much delicious food--so Jean's having a leftover lunch Tuesday. We brought Calabacitas (a Mexican squash casserole). There were enough charro beans to feed a small army. The menu also included taco salad, Mexican hominy, pulled pork enchiladas, chicken fajitas, a variety of great tamales, fruit custard, and of course cake--in this case, a Mexican wedding cake.

After dinner some of us went for a walk around the park to get a little exercise before eating our cake. Afterward some folks left, and the remaining diehards played a round of golf (the card game, that is). Steve was winning for most of the game, but on the last hand, Hardy overtook him.

We had our usual breakfast with friends at Mi Challitas this morning, and then Steve and Jan and Hardy and Judy came over to site #333 to inspect and give us some feedback. The consensus was that although there are some maintenance issues, they are relatively minor. We also determined that if the center support post for the patio cover is in the wrong place for our fifth wheel (like directly in front of our dining table window), moving the post will be easy (at least, easy for Steve).

We brought home some leftover calabacitas, so that will be the base for chili for dinner tomorrow.
