Today was a travel day. We stopped for propane, and it was11:00 a.m. when we left the U-Haul dealer. This was the second time that someone filled the tank on the rack, so we didn’t have to lift it down—yay! There was no turn around, and the only other exit was steep and narrow, so Ken had to back the rig out into the street (which he did very well, while I spotted traffic for him).
We found a nice site in Big Pines, a BLM campground in the Yakima River Canyon about ten miles north of Yakima. The satellite dish can't find the satellites, but that's just as well. We probably wouldn't want to use electricity to run the TV anyhow, since there are no hookups.
We walked around the campground. We found some mosquitoes—or they found us. We don’t have many neighbors. We saw an unusual motorhome, a Shasta that looks like a travel trailer that someone added a steering wheel to. The front is completely flat. Even the windshield is two pieces of flat glass. We discovered that there is a campground host, but no one was around.
Before we left the Elks Lodge we filled our fresh water tank to 100%, but at our lunch stop, it was reading 82%, so we used the potable water hose to refill the tank to 100%. When we arrived at our campground, it was reading 72%, and we could easily see that we were trailing water from some sort of leak. Possibly the upper part of the fresh water tank has a leak? The same thing happened when we moved from Elks to the fairground last Tuesday. We plan to see if we can maintain a 100% water reading while sitting still in a site with water on Friday.
Meanwhile, we have discovered that our door will not lock using the remote or the keypad. It sounds like it's locking, but the door can be easily opened. Now the only way to lock the door from outside is manually with a key. Darn!
