Marina Visit

This morning when we looked out at the lake, we could see that a mysterious looking mist was shrouding it, despite sunshine everywhere else.

When we went for our walk, the mist had lifted. We couldn't resist sitting by the lake, watching the water sparkling and listening to the water lap on the shore.

We walked over to the marina again. This time we walked out on the docks. Four mallard drakes and this unusual fellow were paddling around. This one hopped up on the dock to see if we might have something to give him. He was quite comical, wagging his tail and panting. The owner of the marina admitted that all the ducks were pets, but also said they were rather messy!

The owner of this little dory, Chris Scott,  pulled up and asked us to take pictures of his boat, since he didn't have any. Ken was happy to oblige, especially since the guy's camera was a Canon very similar to Ken's. Chris said that this was his first visit to Cordell Hull Lake and that he planned to spend the night on the boat tonight.

Steve and Jan sent us contact info for Mid Valley RV in Donna, the company that rebuilt their slide and which they highly recommended. We called and made arrangements to have our bedroom slide rebuilt when we get to the Valley. We'll stay in the Spauldings' Texas room while the repairs are being done.

We had a fire tonight and ate outside, warming ourselves by the fire and watching the pink fading light of the evening sky over the lake. We had picked up some graham crackers and some fresh marshmallows, so we had s'mores for dessert--yum! There's nothing like the crunch of the graham cracker, the choclatey sweetness of the Hershey bar, and the sticky melting marshmallow (with just a tad of burnt edge) to remind me of my childhood.

We spent some time today cleaning the exterior of the rig. We couldn't use a hose because the park doesn't allow washing of vehicles, but we figured they wouldn't object to brushes and pails and rags--with plenty of elbow grease thrown in! We still have more to do, like using Gel Gloss on the end cap.
