Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers! Chris and Annie called from Portland, Terri called from Bethesda, and Ed called from Flower Mound. It was good to hear their familiar voices from all across the country. I really miss my mom, especially at this time of year. She's been gone for three years now.

This morning we said goodbye to Don and Peg and thanked them for their hospitality. Then we set out for our big move--less than 10 miles--to the dispersed camping area off Thousand Trails Road. As you can see from the picture below, we found a spot behind a tree and along a dropoff, overlooking a broad valley to the mountains beyond.

We somehow managed to choose a spot that was difficult to get into. We had to maneuver around a bush and avoid some large rocks and a tree stump, but our reward is a campsite with a spectacular view and few neighbors.

Our internet connection is unreliable, which is very frustrating. We are so used to having that connection 24-7!
