This morning I took the little table and headed over to the woodworking shop to see if it could be refinished to match the rest of our wood. Adrian is in charge of the shop and graciously helped me. He determined that the cherry finish was just sprayed on and that sanding should remove it. He took the top off the table, but decided not to disassemble it further, since it apparently is glued together.
I used a couple of small power sanders to take the old finish off the base, including the magazine rack. This was a pretty time consuming job. It was also hard on my hand and shoulder, but the results will be worth it. I had to do some hand sanding too. Meanwhile Adrian repaired the split on the underside of the table top and sanded it down. I'll go back tomorrow to make more progress.
This afternoon we danced at Randy's. Hardy came and danced with Sharlene, but Judy stayed home to nurse a scratchy throat. Hope she's doing better soon.
This evening we went to the clubhouse for game night and played Sequence with Tim and Rosie. They have a game board that their grandchildren made. We played men against women. The women carried the night, four games to two.
The wind is whistling outside as a severe cold front pushes down into the Valley tonight. Unfortunately we have hard freeze warnings for the next three nights. Ken put water in our tank and disconnected the hose. Brrrr.
