Austin

We hit the road again this morning, headed to Austin to visit Lee's friend, Loretta. We saw fields of Texas bluebonnets and Indian paintbrushes and some yellow flowers (unidentified). Beautiful! We stopped at the San Marcos Tanger Outlets because we needed to replace our citrus peeler. Success at the Kitchen Collection! We also stopped at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

We've stayed at various parks around the Austin area (McKinney Falls State Park is one of our favorites). This time we elected to stay at a commercial park because of the quick in and out offered by a paved pull-thru. We're at Oak Forest RV Park. It's 12 miles northeast of the state park, 6.4 miles from I-35, and 222 miles from Lake Park in Lewisville, our next destination.

As you can see, it's also quite attractive, and the weather is definitely cooperating. We enjoyed walking around the resort, checking out the amenities. We still prefer public parks to commercial parks. The sites are generally more spacious, and you're closer to nature, but this will make a fine base camp. I'm going to meet Loretta in the morning at the Barton Creek Greenbelt. The access point we've chosen is about halfway between her house and Oak Forest.

We called Nanci Rowe to wish her a happy birthday. She and Tom were at Target buying a new bedside reading light for Tom, which he considered a necessity. Nanci says he has to read before he can sleep. I totally understand! We're looking forward to visiting them in August when we're in the northwest.
