We spent today trying to catch up on tasks and errands. I ran the truck through a coin-op carwash, so it's at least decent looking. I also did some grocery shopping, and an upscale resale shop called Encore, Encore just happened to be next door, so I browsed through their selections and ended up with two new tops.
Tonight we attended our first C-1 dance away from our caller/teachers (Darryl Lipscomb, Randy Dougherty, and Joe Saltel). We had two squares, and the caller was Wayne Alexander. His wife, Yevonne, was very helpful in welcoming us and giving us directions to the dance. One of the first things we noticed is that we were the only ones wearing nametags--the group is so small that everyone knows everyone else. We had two squares tonight, about usual, although if everyone shows up, there would be four or five squares. The sad thing is that this is the only C-1 dance in the whole Dallas/Fort Worth area.
We had fun dancing to Wayne Alexander's calling, despite finding ourselves wandering and uncertain more than we would like. We actually did pretty well, with some help from the experienced dancers. We learned some of the dancers' names, but we'll probably forget most of them before we get to dance with them the next time, in November. Wayne and Yevonne will be in California the next two weeks for PACE, so the C-1 dance here is dark.
Dennis and Cheryl drove out to the Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area at the Cedar Pocket interchange on I-15 to check out the campground where we are planning to boondock while we are visiting them in St. George, Utah. They sent some photos, with the warning that there's no shade. However, there are spectacular views!
We got some new neighbors today, Pete and Betty. They pulled in in their motorhome and were sitting in their lawn chairs looking at the lake in record time. I commented, and they explained that they'd had a rough trip--their engine overheated on the way.
