Today was another hectic day dedicated to the purchase of our new homestead. It was a whirlwind of activity starting with a trip to the insurance agency to sign up for property insurance. Then we went to Ray and Twyla's house, and they drove us to Edinburg to transfer the title. We stopped at an IBC bank where a nice lady notarized Ray's signature for free.
Then we went to the Hidalgo County Courthouse and checked for liens on the property before recording the deed. The process was surprisingly quick and smooth. It was more trouble using the restrooms in the courthouse. To get to them you have to pass through security screening. Ken had to check his Swiss army knife.
Then Ray and Twyla suggested that we stop somewhere for lunch and then go on to Agua Special Utility District to transfer the water to our name. Meanwhile I called Reliant Energy and signed up for electric service. We had lunch at Subway. We're very glad that we had some experienced folks to guide us around Agua S.U.D. Back at GGG we stopped in the office to pick up our gate key.
A couple of coyotes ran across the road in front of us as we were setting out for Joe's dance tonight. It was just before twilight. We've been surprised to see and hear so many near BPV.
Joe's dance tonight was fun. We had seven squares plus one couple.
