Flat Tire!

We biked in the state park this morning. A mower was trimming the verges of the road, throwing the cut grass and vegetation onto the roadway. Unfortunately, one of the bits of vegetation had a long, sharp thorn, which penetrated Ken's front tire and tube. Darn! Just after we had been telling Bob Boyink that we had not had any flats on Ken's Electra Bike because of the Kevlar protecting the tubes. Guess the Kevlar wasn't entirely thorn proof!

We managed to repair the tube, but found it definitely difficult to remove the tire from the rim. The Kevlar reinforced tire is quite thick, stiff, and sturdy. Besides, we had to experiment a bit before we remembered exactly how to get the tire off and back onto the rim--it has been years.

Bentsen Palm Village has won several awards and high ratings this year, and a new sign popped up outside the entrance to brag a bit.

This afternoon we spent some time washing windows and doing some light cleaning of the exterior of the rig. The windows on the sunny side will need more attention tomorrow morning before the sun gets to them. It's hard to clean a hot window.

The park is beginning to fill up a bit more. We're hoping that our friends Gary and Judy will be here soon. We're expecting them for January and February.
