Another Lovely Day

On our walk this morning, this lovely butterfly caught our attention.

We walked to the day use area again. This time we decided to walk around the barriers that close off the street, curious to find out what was behind them. As we walked along, we realized that we were in an extension of the day use area, with picnic tables and grills ranged along the Cefeated Creek. Farther along we saw a large swimming beach. At the end of the beach was a boat ramp. Another entrance to the day use area led back to Marina Drive. The area is apparently closed for the season.

We put in some more time on our chores today. Ken washed windows while I worked on the interior of the rig and washed the rugs.

We watched the final two hours of Prohibition. Among the final statements was the irony that when Prohibition was repealed, it was harder to get a drink than before. Making alcohol legal also brought it under control and imposed closing hours and age limits, rather than the anything goes whirlwind of the Prohibition years. Another irony is that the men only saloons that were a target of anti-alcohol crusaders did indeed disappear--to be replaced by bars and taverns in which men and women drank together.
