Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center

I was feeling somewhat better when we got up this morning, so we decided to go to the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center to find out more about the park. This visitor center is only one of several visitor and information centers in the park. It is the newest, and the architecture is very different from the "National Park Rustic" to which we have grown accustomed. It features a large multistory window overlooking the Grand Teton Range.

We looked around and watched the park video, created by the Discovery Channel. It's the best park video we have seen, with information on the geology, history, and wildlife. We are especially looking forward to seeing some of the wildlife. We picked up a hiking trail map to check out the available hikes.

This evening we walked almost all the way to the other end of the campground--quite a distance. This may be the largest campground we have ever stayed in. It is organized into eight loops; the farthest from us are the group sites and the tent-only area.
