We got up early this morning to be ready for the community yard sales. They were scheduled to begin at 8:00, but we'd been warned that people would be showing up at 7:00. We took some things over to Steve and Jan's to sell, and of course we found some things there (and elsewhere) to buy. We were lucky to get four nice folding chairs for the Texas room.
This afternoon we had our first gathering on the patio and in the Texas room with our Green Gate Grove friends (and Jean, who is a GGG wannabe). Everyone brought something to share, so we had plenty of good eats and drinks--and lots of camaraderie.
Steve can multitask: he's making margaritas and smiling for the camera!
After we finished eating, we all went over to the state park to join Hardy in some stargazing. Well, actually we mainly looked at Jupiter and its moons, and that was enough to make Ken exclaim, "Oh, wow!" After we left, Judy stayed behind to help out when the people on the night hike arrived for the star party. It turned out that several of them were kids, from toddlers to teens, and Jupiter impressed them too.

The sad part is that our "first" is also a last for the season. Jan and Steve will be leaving on Monday, and Jean leaves Wednesday. We'll look forward to getting back together with all our friends in the fall.
We've officially declared the Texas room "blah" and invited Cheryl to be our decorator. She says that will be an expensive paint job since it will involve a plane ticket to get her here.
We did some shopping today and got two small recliners and lots of odds and ends for the Texas room. One thing leads to another....
