Ramblin' Rogues Class

Wes and Jenske invited us to come down to Mission Viejo early and have dinner with them before going to the Rogues class tonight (so we could avoid the rush hour traffic jams). We made the trip at 2 p.m. in about 45 minutes, and it could easily have taken twice that if we'd tried to arrive at 7 p.m. Wes was going to grill some salmon, but the barbecue grill didn't cooperate. Unfazed, he baked the salmon in the oven with lemon juice and herbs, and it turned out great. Jenske fixed fresh green beans, and Ken made the salad. We had a piece of the banana bread Lee had made, so the meal was prepared by committee, and everything was delicious.

Since it's near St. Patrick's day, Jenske had called to remind us to wear green to the class, so we got in the spirit of the season. Many of the dancers must have had a touch of the Irish--lots of green could be seen.

We saw friends we hadn't seen in a year, and met some new club members and students. Lee showed signs of having a good time.

After the class, we adjourned to the pizza parlor for the afterparty--and to celebrate Ed Evans' birthday. It turned out to be near Ken and Barbara Rohdes' birthdays too, so we got to sing twice (both times in the "key of 'ell" as Ed remarked). Ken and Barbara had been in an A-1 class with us and the Evans in 1998, and we remembered some good old times. They are now Rogues club members.

We spent the night with Wes and Jenske, too, so we wouldn't have to drive home late (or worry about having a glass of beer). We also got a couple of loads of laundry done. We are so blessed with good friends.
