We biked around the lake this afternoon, about 8 miles. Despite being close to the lake all around, the trail has lots of up and down hills--so that's good. We got some exercise, and our muscles got some challenges. The Shawnee Lake park wraps all the way around the lake. It includes swim beaches, marinas, a boat and ski club, a golf course, the Ensley Gardens, fishing docks, picnic tables, playgrounds, and acres and acres of grass and trees. We spent some time walking through the gardens, enjoying the roses and other flowers and plants. It's also a great place to people watch.
One bright note: Ken decided that the slow leak in our trailer tire was caused by the tire pressure monitor sensor. It probably just needs a new rubber ring insert. On the other hand, we had another unfortunate discovery: our furnaces won't come on. We suspect there may be a wiring problem with the replacement thermostat that was installed last week. Fortunately we have our electric fireplace to take off the morning chill.
We're up in the air about our plans now. We have an email message out to Ken U., and we'll call him in the morning. We could try to get some repairs done in Topeka or in St. Louis, but we could also wait until we get to Atlanta. Neither the ABS nor the gas furnaces is an urgent problem right now.
