We joined Ed and Julie and the kids for a trip to the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. We wanted to see a special exhibit of Impressionist paintings. After standing in line for over half an hour, we regrouped and decided to enjoy the much less crowded (and free) regular collection. Afterwards we walked over to the Amon Carter Museum next door. The Carter started out as a museum of the American West, and it still has extensive collections of western art, but it now covers American art more broadly.
We had a fascinating time and could have spent hours more--but the museum closed at 5, everyone was ready for dinner, and Cate and Sam had reached the end of their patience--or was it their parents' patience? We went to Joe T. Garcia's Mexican Restaurant, which was quite an experience.
