Punderson State Park

We left Michigan behind and traveled across the Indiana Toll Road and the Ohio Turnpike to arrive a little after 4:00 p.m. at Punderson State Park. We chose it because it's east of Cleveland and south of Mentor, pretty much the only reasonable choice in the area. We plan to visit family in Mentor (45 minutes) and Strongsville (one hour).

When we arrived, we first had to fill up our fresh water tank, because the sites have only 20 amp electric (no water at the sites). Then we backed into site #15. It's a nice site, surrounded by trees. Through the trees at the rear of the site, down a hill, we can see Punderson Lake, an attractive little natural lake.

The sites are nicely angled, so although they are not very wide, we have plenty of space.

Tomorrow we'll get together with Peggy and family and Aunt Helene. Looking forward to seeing them--it's been a couple of years since our last trip to this area.

Our new chairs traveled well and were much easier to deal with than our old heavy recliners. Besides, now I don't have to pick up the coffee table and put it on the couch to travel--it fits between the two chairs nicely.

We've developed a rather proprietary interest in the swan that hangs around Mirror Lake, so we were surprised and unhappy to see lots of white flight feathers floating around the lake recently. As we were packing up to leave this morning, Ken talked to Mark (one of the owners of the resort) who said that the swan had probably had an encounter with a fox. Fortunately it seems the swan has survived. Mark says that it lost its mate a couple of years ago, which is why it's alone. Maybe next year it will find a new mate.
